Battlefield 3 Getting Three New DLC Packs

EA and DICE just announced three new expansion packs coming to Battlefield 3 in 2012. Additionally, console players get a big addition to Battlelog that'll help create a more personal experience.

First up comes Close Quarters. This pack includes four new maps and ten new weapons. The catch here is that all the infantry maps are set inside buildings, which removes vehicles from the equation. Close Quarters arrives in June, with Playstation 3 gamers getting the expansion a week early.

Next, Armored Kill arrives this fall. While DICE wouldn't go into detail about the pack, it said the expansion will include the largest map the team has ever designed. Armored Kill also delivers new vehicles, though DICE was tight-lipped about which ones we'll see.
Lastly, sometime this winter, we'll play the final expansion pack: End Game. They wouldn't divulge any information about the pack, but a promotional poster revealed a grizzled soldier holding a knife. More story content? It's way too early to tell.

On the Battlelog side, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 players will get access to rent-a-server. This is the a feature PC players have had since the launch of Battlefield 3, and now groups of like-minded soldiers can play the customized console matches they want.

EA and DICE didn't give us much to talk about yet, but this is the first official announcement of a plan surrounding the future of Battlefield 3. We'll update you with any new information as soon as it becomes available.
